Freestyle Frisbee World Championship
The Frisbee had a remarkable start. Originally, the Frisbee was no more than a pie tin in which the Frisbie Baking Company baked and sold its pies. Throwing the Frisbee, since 1957 by purpose-manufactured plastic discs, was one thing. Soon, genius and athletic folks invented all sorts of tricks one could do with a Frisbee. Freestyle Frisbee was born.
Now, blossomed into a full-blown sport, Freestyle Frisbee provides joy and fun to both players and those watching with amazement. Healthy competition made sure that it was only a matter of time before the first championship was held.
Since 1979, the Freestyle Players Association has set its goals to promote the sport and the standardization of international tournaments. AmsterJAM has embraced these very goals to further develop the sport in the Netherlands.
AmsterJam 2007
Event director Iwan de Moor from Amsterdam is the inspiring force for most Dutch freestyle frisbee players. He is not just defending the Dutch honour on international tournaments, but he is also the founder of the annual freestyle tournament AmsterJAM. AmsterJAM was born in 2003. In 2005 this yearly open tournament has successfully hosted the F.P.A. Freestyle Frisbee European Championship.
In 2007, while celebrating a 5th edition, AmsterJAM welcomed the biggest event in so far:
F.P.A. World Championships with 115 competing athletes and THEY made history!
3. Amount of competitors/nationalities was higher than ever
2. Rankings have not been shaken like this in over a decade!
1. For the first time EVER an all European team WINS. In 2 divisions!

The 2007 AmsterJam discs
It used to be normal that
All competing jammers got an original Discratft Skystyler with custom AmsterJAM print from Iwan
On top of that, in 2007, the F.P.A. provided discs with a beautiful tulip design for the athletes.
AmsterJAM 2007 FPAW day 2 and 3 by R. Hoeger
Some years ago, it was decided to limit the entire AmsterJAM tournament schedule in order to spend more time JAMming together;
One round of pairs division and for the rest of the time JAM, JAM, JAM
A great move!!!
Hoping we will have many more to come
